Elden Ring just got a new patch with a ton of balance changes that will undoubtedly affect your highly complex build that relies on waiting for enemies to attack, then ducking and yelling “Boo!” at the top of your lungs. The biggest headline? Some tweaks to Shadow of the Erdtree’s big final boss that look like they’ll make him a lot easier to defeat.
Look, before you start drafting an angry letter to FromSoft demanding that it stick to its principles of making things tougher than a very cheap steak, maybe take a look at these changes first, ok?

As detailed in the Elden Ring 1.14 notes, your friend and my promised princess, Ladaen (who may or may not have Miyazaki riding on his back, depending on which mod you use) is a big focus of this change.
What happened to him? Well, the way he moves at the start of combat has been changed, some of his moves have been altered, and some of his attack effects have become easier to see. On top of that, the damage to health and stamina of some of Radahn’s attacks – as well as the range of his “non-weapon” attacks – have been reduced.

Beyond that, the patch also saw FromSoft make some PvP-specific balance adjustments, affecting weapon types like backhand blades and spears, as well as skills like shotgun toss, discus throw, and weed whacker. There’s also been a host of general balance tweaks to a range of weapons, weapon feats, and spells. Plus, as you’d expect, there’s a ton of bug fixes.
So, there you have it. Maybe it’s time for you to try your hand at your promised spouse again via saxophone or dance mat, knowing that he’ll be slightly less well-equipped and have you staring at that infamous splash in the first five seconds.
