If you’re excited about Team Asobi’s latest adventure, you’re in for a treat: Astro Bot will soon welcome free DLC. It’s coming to PS5 later this year.

For a “small project” developed by a team of 65 people, Astro Bot has just achieved a remarkable feat… With a rating of 94/100 on Metacritic, Team Asobi’s platform game has become the second highest-rated title of 2024, behind Shadow of the Erdtree, and Elden Ring DLC. All the reviews speak of a platform game that exudes passion and love from the first to the last level. If you agree, we have great news for you: Astro Bot will welcome free DLCs at the end of the year.

You run speedrun and challenges

This is revealed in an interview with the YouTube channel Quest daily that Nicolas Doucet, the director of Team Asobi, spoke about the extension. “It (a DLC, ed.) won’t be huge,” he warns. We’ll talk about new difficult levels – certainly involving dice and replays, like in the base title -, speedrun challenges and of course new robots to rescuealways in the image of great video game saga. There will also be a leaderboard so players can compare their achievements online. In the same interview, Nicolas Doucet also talks about giving the game a “toy feel” so that the DLC has something for everyone, not just those looking for an extra challenge… However, the director specifies that it is not yet certain that other new features will be included in the expansion.

Our new information

If that last point is still unresolved, however, we have some very recent information from Japan… Yes, in case you haven’t seen it yet, we recently published a report on Astro Bot and Team Asobi directly from their studio in Tokyo. In addition to a whole host of development details, we also have a lot to tell you about the DLC. It will include 10 new challenges and 5 speedruns and is expected to be released between October and December 2024.
