Blizzard is celebrating World of Warcraft’s 20th anniversary this year, and to celebrate it… it’s teamed up with itself to add some World of Warcraft skins to Overwatch 2.

Co-op for live service games is all the rage these days, but it’s a little funny when developers do it themselves – which is what Blizzard has done with its latest title. This November marks the 20th anniversary of World of Warcraft (apologies to anyone who immediately felt old), so Blizzard has released a fun little trailer announcing that the MMO will be teaming up with the developer’s other big title, Overwatch. The trailer, which you can watch below, is framed like a theme park ride, which is almost certainly a reference to fan-favorite map Blizzard World, a theme park-style map based on, well, you might have guessed it.

The trailer’s description reads: “Overwatch 2 and World of Warcraft are uniting the realms for a legendary crossover event, so come join the celebration!” “Choose to represent the Horde or the Alliance as Overwatch’s powerful heroes pay tribute to iconic figures from the world of Azeroth.” This means that when the crossover launches on September 17, you’ll be able to get four skins, including Reinhardt’s Lich King, Widowmaker’s Sylvanas Windrunner, Torbjörn’s Magni Bronzebeard, and Zenyatta’s Thrall.

The World of Warcraft crossover is part of Overwatch 2’s Season 12, which last month introduced the game’s newest support hero, Juno, as well as some new maps and a Skirmish mode. No other information has been revealed about the crossover, and it’s not known if there will be more content besides skins, but considering it’s only two days from the time of writing this article, you probably shouldn’t bet on anything other than skins, but don’t get your hopes up.
