CCP Games has something new in store again. With EVE Frontier, the developer wants to get involved in the survival genre and, of course, the whole thing takes place in space.
CCP Games, best known for the MMO EVE Online, has announced a new game called EVE Frontier. It is a space survival game that focuses on freedom, challenge and consequences. Based on the announcement teaser, the game is to be released for PC and MAC and registration for a closed playtest 4 is open on the official website currently possible.
In the game, you take on the role of one of the last survivors of humanity, freshly awakened from stasis. Civilization has collapsed in the ruins of its ambition. Wild swarms of drones roam the wasteland, and the survivors fight for control of the resources.
Set in a sandbox world in the middle of space, you must explore, exploit and expand in the face of constant extinction. With all players on a single server, death and opportunity lurk in equal measure. Your piloting skills and strategic decisions will determine the outcome of each encounter, whether you prefer hit-and-run tactics, stealth or war.
By using the natural resources of the frontier, your ship is upgraded with important technology and given new capabilities. Obtaining fuel, the lifeblood of the ship, powers the journey while overcoming dangers. A community-driven and dynamic economy makes it possible to create your own currencies, establish markets and trade goods, services and reputation in a truly open environment. A principle that has already worked well in EVE Online.
“EVE Frontier redefines the survival genre by combining intense space survival gameplay with the limitless emergent potential of a player-driven, persistent sandbox universe,” said Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP Games. “From exploiting space to shaping entire economies, every decision has an impact on this dark and uncompromising expanse. We welcome you to join us in taking the next step in our story; wake up forever.”
