Did you know Disney made a mobile gacha game? Turns out the company made several, but one of them will soon be available to play with Bambi’s mom and Captain Barbossa, as the Disney Mirrorverse is shutting down. The game has been removed from mobile stores, microtransaction sales have stopped, and the game will be offline on December 16.

The announcement was made yesterday on the game’s official website, Discord server, and other official platforms. The official statement explained that the game’s final update will wrap up its story, which is a ray of hope for players who have invested a lot of time (and money) in the game.

“We sincerely thank you, our amazing community of players, for making our journey unforgettable,” wrote Kabam Pinwheel Senior Community Manager. “Your support and passionate dedication to the game is truly inspiring to our team. It has been a labor of love and a privilege to create this game and evolve the beloved characters and world in new and imaginative ways.”

These types of games are always a big deal for the community of players who are invested in them. Generally speaking, the closure of all online games is a sad thing for players, but it is especially sad for fans of online services and Gacha games because players invest huge amounts of money.

Regardless, Mirrorverse looks pretty cool. Various Disney characters can interact with each other, and the RPG gameplay seems unique enough to keep players interested. Perhaps the most interesting part is the character designs, as the art team clearly has a lot of fun with the characters that are added to the game over time. Take Kermit, for example, he’s a bard warrior who bashes his enemies with a banjo. It’s a nice effort indeed.

For those who still own the game, they’ll be able to experience its final moments in the coming weeks. There are several dedicated YouTube channels for the game that are still uploading content, so I’m sure you’ll be able to see the grand finale through them. Frankly, I know very little about Mirrorverse’s story, but I’m praying it’ll be some kind of tragic tearjerker. Ending with a bang, both literally and figuratively – just like Final Fantasy 14.
