If you own a Google Pixel 6 or later and don’t want to hear about betas, you’ll still have to wait a little longer to get the update to Android 15. According to multiple sources, the update will arrive on October 15th.
So there are 26 days left before the final launch of Android 15, the code for which was already released in AOSP version on September 4. But the Android Pixel is not AOSP and The wait from one to the other is the longest in Android history: 41 days difference.
Almost a month until Android 15 for the Pixel
The last we knew about the final version of Android 15 was that it could arrive in mid-October. What we didn’t know was that it was going to be so literal, since the latest leaks and Mishaal Rahman, the Android Pixel will be launching next Tuesday October 15th.
Google typically releases Android updates early in the week, most on Monday or Tuesday. Android 15 remains one of the rare exceptions where Pixel Android arrives after Android AOSP. Additionally, this is the first time that the Pixels have launched without the latest version of Android pre-installed.

It already happened with Android 12, whose AOSP version was released on October 4, but we only had to wait a few weeks until the update reached the Pixel. Android 15 will be in more than a month from the launch of AOSP to the launch of Pixel.
Over time, the Google Pixel is moving further and further away from the AOSP versionincluding many new features that are not included in AOSP and therefore require additional work. This additional work seems to have become somewhat intensive in the case of Android 15.
If all goes well, we can give the release of Android 15 as completed finally on October 15th, because so far the AOSP version is simply the source code of the open version of Android and not an update that can be installed on any mobile phone (without compiling it first, at least).
