iOS 18.1 Beta 5 Lets You Drag Files to iPhone Mirroring

Just yesterday, Apple released iOS 18.1 beta 5, the next big update that Apple has been working on for months. This is a big release because it will include the first features of Apple Intelligence. However, there are many other functions that, beyond the AI-based functions, will arrive on our iPhones and iPads with this update. Among them are the iPhone Mirroring Tool which allows users mirror our iPhone screen to our Mac.

And in this fifth beta of iOS 18.1 Apple has added a feature that we could see at WWDC24: the ability to drag files between the two devices using iPhone Mirroring.

THE iPhone Mirroring Feature It will reach iOS 18.1 as we have seen in the latest beta versions of the operating system. However, what we did not know is that this tool was going to have other additional functions in this next version. These are: the ability to drag files between iPhone and Mac

once the tool is deployed. In other words, enable a flow of information and data accessible from the Mac screen.

This is a feature that we have already seen during the presentation of iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia at WWDC24. It allows, among other things, to be able to download an image from our iPhone to our Mac by simply dragging or sending a video hosted on our Mac by simply dragging it onto the screen of our iPhone thanks to iPhone Mirroring. This file drag and drop feature was included in iOS 18.1 beta 5 which means it will reach our devices in a very short time.

Remember that to use this tool, both the iPhone and the Mac must have the latest versions installed (in the current case, the beta versions of iOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1, as well as a Mac with Apple Silicon or Intel with T2 Security Chip. Apple also requires that the Mac not use AirPlay or Sidecar when deploying iPhone Mirroring.
