Star Marine 2’s latest patch finally removes PvP spawn camping, letting you challenge friends to 1v1 bro battles

The first major content patch for Starfighter 2 has been released, and it brings a slew of major content additions and minor tweaks that should help make up for the game’s many less-than-welcome quirks and absences. These include, but are not limited to, 1v1 duels between friends, and changes to the PvP respawn system to make respawn camping more difficult.

All of these changes are listed in full in the patch notes posted on the Focus Together publisher website. Key additions include the aforementioned One-on-One mode, which allows two players in the same squad to duke it out on a battle barge, and the private lobby of Operation Mode, which allows you to play with a friend and Queue together as a bot or go it alone with support from AI teammates.

Ultrawide support for PC is here too, which will be great for those keen on experiencing all the excitement this game has to offer. For those who like to customize their Space Marines, you can also lock the color presets and return to them by default if you have a preferred color scheme that you absolutely love.

There are some smaller changes that might be more impactful for some of the more committed Space Marines out there. For one, the marking tools have been improved to make them more responsive and comfortable to use with a mouse. First, the power’s charge attack gets a much-needed buff, while the medical boost gets an extra healing effect that should make them even better. Also, the grenade launcher attachment now regenerates ammo via ammo boxes – which is nice!

As for the campaign changes, the real winner is nerfing enemy aggressiveness on Veteran difficulty, designed to make the single-player experience better. Plus, bots become more useful, but still not as powerful as they can get the job done for you.

In PvP, the spawn point changes should make spawn camping more difficult, which is nice. However, the Vanguard was severely weakened. His grapple no longer stuns, but now greatly slows enemies hit. Perhaps this will encourage Vanguard players to use grapple more as a navigation tool rather than a combat opener.

The real winner here is the 1v1 Arena, even if it’s not the online matchmaking mode that players like me really crave. Dueling with friends is always fun, and this might be a good way to do it if you haven’t perfected your parry in multiplayer yet. As for the legitimacy of the legend? The ring has been a forever-present thing in Space Marines. The World Eaters especially love them because they are the best chapters, and what they love, I love too.
