Netflix has decided to make a bold move in the competitive world of streaming. And, with increasingly complete and integrated services like Apple TV+ in Apple One or Prime Video in the Amazon subscription, Netflix wants to continue to dominate the world of films and series. That is why they have introduced a new, cheaper plan in USA that becomes a really interesting option.
Price change on Netflix to stay number one
Despite all the controversy over stopping account sharing, the strategy worked for Netflix. Your income is higher than ever quarter after quarter, also included in USA. Seeing that the general public has accepted this new policy, Netflix will include a new pricing plan related to advertisements and account sharing.
Since September 24, Netflix has been testing a new pricing plan in USA. The new option allows users add an additional subscriber to your account for 4.99 dollars per monthbut with advertisements. For those who prefer to avoid advertisements, the possibility of adding an extra euro goes up to 5.99 dollars currently. Currently, Netflix offers three types of plans:
- Standard with ads at 5.49 dollars per month
- Standard without advertising at 12.99 dollars
- Premium at 17.99 dollars (with possibility of sharing)
This last plan is the one that allows you to add up to two additional members, now starting from 4.99 dollars instead of the 5.99 dollars, provided you prefer to watch advertisements and save this euro per month. As the test works for them, they will expand this pricing plan to more countries.
Apple TV+ and a possible future with ads
Unlike Netflix, Apple TV+ has so far maintained a single subscription of 9.99 dollars monthly without advertising, focusing its proposition on the quality of the content and the user experience. It can be shared with family, and all content is available in 4K…
However, the pressure is increasing and recent reports suggest that Apple has changed its strategy with Apple TV+. Apple’s platform plans to launch a cheaper plan with ads, a move many critics say is necessary to compete in a market where prices are increasingly competitive. And that’s it, even if Apple TV+ offers higher quality and more flexibility in comparisonthe barrier of selling your service at “5.99 dollars” goes very high.
