Gaming News Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade… these popular video games come to Mario on the PS5!
During the last State of Play, free DLC was announced for this super fun game that was a hit for back to school!
With a score of 94 on Metacritic, Astro Bot was one of the big PS5 successes of this year. Before the Tokyo Game Show on September 24th, PlayStation broadcast a State of Play. During the live broadcast, Nicolas Doucet, director of Team Asobi (the studio behind Astro Bot), intervened to give us some good news. After thanking the players for the excellent reception of the game, The director announced the launch of free DLC this fall. We don’t know the exact date yet, but we know what’s in it!
Two space fighters
Soon players will be able to rescue new little robots. In this DLC, 10 new bots join the adventure. We can already confirm the identity of two of them: Stellar Blade and Helldivers 2, two titles released this year. Eve, the heroine of Stellar Blade, appears in the video wearing her green Planet Diving suit with shiny highlights. Its integration into the Astro Universe was foreshadowed due to the fact that the software developed by Shift Up was mentioned in Astro Bot’s credits. A more unexpected arrival is that of Helldivers. The defender of democracy, transformed into a robot, appears there in his basic skin.
Seeing Eve and a Helldivers dance together is still special. Team Asobi manages to integrate licenses that originally have nothing to do with the cheerful and colorful atmosphere of Astro Bot. The transformation of the characters into a cute little robot version was not for everyone, we think in particular of the director of Days Gone, who regretted the inclusion of his hero in the game.
It’s up to you to guess…
At the end of his speech, Nicolas Doucet indicates that he wants to give players the opportunity to find out who the eight other robots in the DLC are. When checking the Astro Bot credits, we notice that licenses have been mentioned without them being represented (at the moment). These are Beyond Good & Evil, Rayman, Rise of the Ronin and Worms. In addition, the advertising graphics provide further information For example, we can recognize robots bearing the image of Princess Plump (Fat Princess), Sweet Tooth (Twisted Metal) and LocoRoco. The eighth bot could very well come from the Assassin’s Creed license, although we wonder if it will represent a character from the Shadows opus, since the game was just delayed by Ubisoft. In addition to these cameo appearances, the expansion offers the most experienced players the opportunity to test themselves in 5 speedrun levels.
