macOS recognizes when it has been restarted without a proper shutdown or restart operation from the menu. When this happens, a dialog box at startup tells you that “Your computer has been restarted due to a problem” and offers to send a report to Apple. There are many reasons why your Mac might restart, including a power outage, and you usually know why this happened.
But for some people, every time they restart their Mac afterward, whether it’s using > Stop or > Restartthey see the same error. They know everything is fine, why not macOS?

The response is a diagnostic file that may be left behind in rare circumstances after the problematic reboot is resolved. You can fix this problem quite easily:
- In Finder, choose Go > Go to folder.
- Enter exactly the following and press Return:
/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports
- Search for any file starting with the word
Sleep
and ending with.diag
- Delete these files and empty the Trash (Finder > Empty Trash).
On your next regular reboot, the alert will not appear.
