The Day Before is considered one of the biggest flops of all and quickly disappeared from the scene. The developers are still back with a new project!
Do you remember The Day Before? The game raised high expectations based on the first trailers, but then flopped dramatically after the game itself had very little in common with them and not much else to offer in terms of gameplay. After years of development, the release of the survival shooter in December 2023 turned out to be more or less a scam, which is why the title was quickly taken offline and the development studio was closed.
Now there is an unexpected and almost crazy turnaround: No, it’s not The Day Before that’s suddenly back, but rather the developer studio responsible for it, Fntastic. After saying goodbye with a simple “shit happens” when their game was taken offline, they have now announced a comeback as Fntastic 2.0 and are actually devoting themselves to a new project.
“Everyone deserves a second chance,” the studio said in a statement via social media. They want to take advantage of this with a new game called Escape Factory, promising to learn from the mistakes of the past and not repeat them.
Escape Factory will be financed through a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. The aim is to use the financial resources acquired in this way to make more games in the future. Whether you want to spend your hard-earned money on a Fntastic project after your experience with The Day Before is of course up to you – whether you should, there are probably no two opinions.
Die Kickstarter campaign is already online and has a goal of 13,937 dollars; As of now there are 12 supporters who have contributed 340 dollars. Anyone who contributes $12,000 can secure an “unforgettable dinner” with the founders of Fntastic.
For the sake of completeness: In the new title you should take on the role of a worker who has to escape the vicious cycle of a deadly factory. The game is played in co-op with 4 to 8 players, with all sorts of physics-based challenges awaiting you – if Escape Factory is ever implemented that way.
