One of the cool things recently announced about the promising Sonic x Shadow Generations is that fans will eventually be able to play as Shadow from Sonic Movie 3, voiced by Keanu Reeves, which will be distributed this December for those who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition. The new level will be related to the movie Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and will be set in Tokyo. ua recent interview with the Playstation Blog’s official series producer, Shun Nakamura, explained why they decided to move forward and make this bonus content a reality. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack comes out on December 12th.
What was the thought process of including the film version of The Shadow?
Nakamura-san: Since the game and movie pack content is coming out before the movie, we thought it would be ideal to have people play the game and have their feelings about Shadow and then go out and see the movie. Once they’ve experienced the movie, hopefully they’ll want to come back and play the game again as Shadow.
We figured that with so many new Sonic fans who love the movies, this might be the perfect motivation to jump in and play Sonic X Shadow Generations if Shadow from the movie makes an appearance.
We hope this makes this holiday season and the Year of the Shadow even more exciting for all kinds of Sonic (and Shadow) fans.
How does this content pack relate to the movie? (No spoilers, of course!)
Nakamura-san: This content will not have a story that directly relates to the film itself. Instead, as you can see in the trailer, it will be set in Tokyo, where Shadow visits in the film.
The development team also lives in Tokyo, so we tried to develop this setting as a place to enjoy as a Sonic game, but also clearly show the similarity to Tokyo. We even went to explore the actual area used in the game for inspiration.
