Apple has patented a new guest mode for its iPhone, which would change the way this device is used every day.
According to a new patent published at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (via Mac Observer), those from Cupertino revealed a new function that would allow you to have a guest mode on the iPhone. As happens in macOS or when selecting a profile on Apple TV, iOS would have a way to show us different applications and functions depending on the choice of a profile when someone else is using an iPhone. Is this a necessary feature?
A guest mode on iPhone thanks to a new patent
This patent would allow the primary iPhone user to limit access to certain apps and functions via pre-configuration. The level of confidentiality will be important since you will not be able to access sensitive or confidential information such as files and photos.
Something attractive pointed out in the same patent indicates that Guest mode controls will not be exclusive to the iPhone but can be configured remotely from an iPad or another iPhone.. Suppose you lent your iPhone and forgot to make some final settings, you will not have to order the device again since, from another device registered with the same Apple account, you will be able to bring modifications which will be applied at the same time.
In which new version of iOS will this feature arrive?
We know that published patents about products, research and development, and new features They are not released immediately. While it is true that the function would be a before and after in the way we use the iPhone, Apple could delay the time it deems necessary to avoid operational failures.
This reminds us that guided access exists.an accessibility feature on the iPhone that allows the use of a single application and could result in a type of guest mode. You can configure some available actions that range from iPhone movements on the screen to the time until the iPhone locks. This is not a guest mode as such but rather restricts the use of the iPhone in its direct capabilities.. Another way to have a guest mode would be to configure a concentration mode as we show you here.
The iPhone could have a change in the approach of use with this patent. Apple has been a staunch promoter of the fact that it is a customizable but in some way very personal device. For example, how you were able to block access to apps with Face ID, hide photos and appsamong other situations that protect the device in such a way that it becomes inaccessible to other people who may have access to the device. Guest mode on iPhone would allow another user to temporarily take control of the device and works naturally to meet your needs without altering the behavior of an already preconfigured iPhone.
