Devolver Digital “excited” about Switch 2

Devolver, Digital, Excited, Switch

Graeme Struthers, chief operating officer and co-founder of Devolver Digital, spoke with Gamereactor about the company’s time with the Nintendo Switch and how he’s looking forward to the Switch’s successor.

Devolver Digital is the publisher of over 50 games on Switch – including Katana Zero, I Friend Pedro, Gris and The Plucky Squire.

Commenting on the Switch, Struthers said:

“I think a lot of the people who work at Devolver, like a lot of the developers who work at Devolver, are Nintendo fans [who] back to the NES, the Super Nintendo, all the way back, so working on Nintendo is something that a lot of us have always wanted to do.

“The Switch, I think, did something that was maybe against the trend. It wasn’t high definition, it was a simple proposition and that made it much more indie-friendly.”

“I think AAA is maybe more of a challenge to try to work in that place. So, I think we benefited from this as well. I think we’ve released about 50 different games on Switch now.”

And when asked about a Switch successor, Struthers had this to say, hinting that their next game, Neva, will be coming to Switch 2:

“We’re excited for whatever Nintendo wants to do next and we have to wait, like everyone else, to see what it is. But, yes, we are excited. So I’m pretty sure you’ll see some of the games, maybe even this one [Neva]. We’d like to imagine it belongs on that platform, but we’ll have to wait and see.”

Neva is an “emotionally charged action-adventure game” from developer Gris, coming to Nintendo Switch on October 15th.
