The Mount & Blade series is a game series for fans. But what hardly anyone has expected is how large this camp of loyal players is recently. Mount & Blade 2 had a sensational release on Steam and was able to partially in a few days have over 220,000 simultaneous players.
This is just the early access launch. So the game is far from over. So what is it about the sandbox role playing game with the medieval setting that is so exciting for the players? A look at the Steam reviews brings a little light into the dark.
Steam agrees: Very positive!
Mount & Blade 2 was released on March 30th, just four days ago. Since then, however, not only have thousands of players gambled extensively, but many have also made their opinions known. At the moment, 40,954 players have already written a review on Steam.
The tendency: Players love Mount & Blade 2! A total of 34,000 reviews by Steam users gave the role-playing game a thumbs up. That leaves only 6,000 who are not yet satisfied with the current state.

This is what players like about Mount & Blade 2
From the reviews, you can see very well that Mount & Blade 2 particularly excites fans who were already enthusiastic about the previous Warband. The positive voices in their reviews therefore often emphasize the strengths of their predecessors.
User Punkias is one of the long-standing fans:
"I've been waiting for the game for a long time now and it was worth it in my opinion. It's going great and I haven't found any bugs yet. I think it's good that the basic principle hasn't changed. It just feels like I hope that the developers stay tuned and continue to perform well. Wish everyone a lot of fun playing. "
But there are also newcomers, like the user Slippy, who summarizes his gaming experience with the following words:
"Can recommend it to fans of games like Heroes of Might and Magic, as well as lovers of Total War parts. You even have a lot more freedom … mass battles, RPG elements, you can trade, raid troops, take villages apart, Conquer castles etc.
The relatively "bad" graphics do not in the least diminish the fun! Great game, did not know the first part and therefore I am a newcomer, but after a few videos to find out more, I am completely enthusiastic. Clear buy recommendation! "
Players don't like that about Mount & Blade 2
Interestingly enough, there are fans of the predecessors among the negative reviews. The problem here often seems to be that they hoped for a little more difference. The many crashes also cause a rather bad mood.
Blackmate, for example, writes very extensively about what annoys him:
"Nice graphic mod, but where is Mount and Blade 2? The game feels sluggish and heavier than warband, sometimes frustrating. Fighting from the horse has become more difficult, the horse is also not as agile, but well animated. The melee is clean, but "glorykills" and variety in the animations for death could have brought something out of here. The graphics are good, but the world still feels dead, like in part 1. What use are 1000 different beards and 500 underpants? just don't feel it, no immersion. No "ambient sounds" from the townspeople, no birds or crickets, but the game tries to make all 500 soldiers scream at the same time, which of course leads to sound errors. "
If you only care about small things, maybe the first mods will help to optimize the gaming experience.

Our preliminary conclusion? Mount & Blade 2 already has an exciting concept that continues exactly where Warband left off. You can still tell in many places in the game that more is possible.
