Are your photos stored in Google Photos a total mess? Then you should sort your pictures thematically into albums. We’ll show you how to do it.

The more images accumulate in Google Photos, the harder it becomes for you to find individual snapshots. A well-sorted photo collection can bring order out of chaos. Google’s photo service offers you the album function.

This allows you to collect thematically sorted images in one place. If you wish, you can later share the finished folders with friends and family. First, we’ll show you how to carry out the procedure on your smartphone.

Information for iOS users

In the following instructions we will go into album sorting on Android smartphones. If you use an iOS device, some steps may differ slightly.

Create albums in Google Photos on your smartphone

On Android smartphones (or iPhone), you create albums in Google Photos to directly sort the photos taken with your camera. You then set up an album as follows:

    Then give the album a name. You can close the tip with the new sharing options by clicking “OK”.

  4. If you don’t want to spend a long time searching through all your pictures, you can use Google Photos’ intelligent search to find all pictures with animals, food or flowers, for example. If you mark these and then click on the plus symbol, you can also create a new album on your smartphone in this way.

If you have already created your album but now want to customize it, you can edit it later in Google Photos.
