Sony announced that it has established global relief for COVID-19 and will donate $ 100 million to support people infected with the virus worldwide.
According to Sony, the fund will support areas such as the creative community in the gaming and entertainment industries. It will focus on companies that have been affected by production cancellations or postponements. This also includes music, movies and television.
The fund will also help frontline medical and first responders and will support children and educators who are forced to work remotely. Sony will "explore ways to leverage its technology" to support educational activities and will work with educators to implement the above measures.
In terms of medical support, the company will report to the United Nations Foundation and the Swiss Charity Foundation, Doctors Without Borders (MSF), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). These pleasures will help paramedics and others.
The company says its 110,000 employees worldwide will also be able to show support through a matching gift program.
Sony works with other companies in the industry that provide relief, such as CD Projekt Red, Paradox, Riot Games, Twitch, Rockstar and Humble Bundle.
