How to beat Homo Avades in Metaphor ReFantazio
To beat Homo Avades in Metaphor: ReFantazio, you must break their shell enough so that they expose their heart at ground level and you can attack it. However, this is easier said than done because Homo Avades have powerful attacks and they require a bit of patience to take them down.
Your two main objectives in this fight are to attack Homo Avade’s heart and keep your entire team alive long enough to take down the human. We recommend trying to keep your party together, as it can take much longer (and be much more difficult) to take out this enemy with two members or even try to do it solo. This means it is crucial to know when to put your team on the back line and when to keep it.
Don’t waste your MP trying to attack the heart while it’s in the airyou will only do minimal damage. Instead, try to focus as much as possible on cracking the hull (which is weak to strike damage) or removing arms when asked. When the point comes where you need to remove Homo Avade’s arms, don’t use melee attacks, instead use whatever fire-based MP attacks you have available, as they are weak to those.
Once Homo Avades loses his balance, he will be briefly stunned and his heart will be at ground level so you can attack him. At this point you should attack the heart as much as you can, we found that it took a good amount of damage from melee attacks like Strohl’s archetype skill “Slicer”. However, you can attack him however you want – your main goal is to reduce his health bar.
Additionally, using any skill that lowers Homo Avade’s defense is a good idea: the lower it is, the easier it is to deal damage to every part of Homo Avade, including the heart. .
After a few hits, Homo Avades will regain his balance and several enemies will appear in his cracked shell.
If you can’t use Gallica to reduce their health enough to take them out, then you need to keep the back line. They will still do damage to you, but nowhere near as much as they would if you didn’t guard.
On that note, halfway through the fight, Gallica will offer to distract and damage the ambush team inside Homo Avade’s cracked hull. Accept it every time she offers it, as it can significantly reduce the ambush party’s health and give you the chance to take them out before they launch their attack. Be careful though, once you’ve used Gallica in this way, she won’t be available for the next ambush – but she will be available for the one after that.
Also listen to Gallica’s suggestions and instructions: throughout this fight, she will help you by giving you advice on what to do next.
Remember to sacrifice turns to heal your party if necessary. We spent several turns moving our protagonist to the backline and using his archetype skill “Dei” to heal party members when necessary, which helped preserve our medicine supply and maintain our advantage against the humans.
All you have to do now is rinse and repeat to defeat Homo Avades – remember to attack the heart at ground level, guard against ambush attacks if necessary, and know when to step back to heal instead of attacking.
