Hey, here’s the first big patch for Silent Hill 2 Remastered since it showed up in all of our lives a little over a week ago. What does it do? Well, the purpose is to help curb some of poor James’ glitches, among other things.

If you haven’t played this game yet, you should probably play it if you like horror stuff, and as our resident horror expert Kelsey wrote in their review, it’s a good thing, both ” Faithful and terrifying.” Interestingly, these are also the words I use to describe some of the more interesting mods released for SH2 to date.

Anyway, forget Pyramid Head’s ass, as outlined in the notes for patch 1.04, Team Bloober’s “[paid] Pay close attention to any reported issues and [gone] Through your feedback on bugs, game performance, etc.” in part to reduce the unexpected weirdness you might encounter.

Among the most noteworthy fixes are “an issue where interacting with the wrong side of Brookhaven Hospital’s peephole teleports James to the other side”, and another “when James approaches Laura from the bushes and enters Brookhaven Hospital” The fix for falling under the map “is on the left” so, basically, your trip to the hospital is now less likely to cause James to be hospitalized.

This is far from the end of Blum’s efforts to curb James’ bad behavior. Nor should he now be “stuck in the window frame” after breaking a window near Neely’s Bar, finding himself unable to exit the third-floor hallway of the Lakeview Hotel, or randomly finding his way to the balcony of the Blue Creek Apartments, where The balcony is supposed to be inaccessible.

Oh, and he should eventually be able to overcome a small coffee table blocking him in a corner of a room in his Woodside apartment (apparently an unintentional ghost), and shouldn’t have his plank of wood suddenly appear next to him if he dies Yeah, it was like a rubbish funeral. The patch also “improves deformation of the nurse’s skirt,” which is certainly a sentence.

In addition to a few other gameplay tweaks you can check out in the full notes, PC and PS5 are each getting their own list of technical fixes, which will hopefully make you less likely to experience crashes or stuttering on your platform of choice.
