Samsung has a great treasure with One UI, its customization layer. Even if yes, the next major version will make us wait until 2025 to taste its new features. Meanwhile, we have One UI 6.1 which brought new AI features, and on which all software tools like Good lock.
In addition to this powerful utility, the Galaxy Store hosts an application with which you can get the most out of your Samsung Galaxy cameras: It’s free and activates hidden functions that you could never use without it. We explain to you what it is and how it works.
A very brilliant camera “assistant”
The Good Lock modules are exclusive to the Korean manufacturer’s terminals, like the recently updated theme park itself. They offer new customization options, which amplify the limits of Samsung software. The same thing happens with the application in question, “Camera Assistant”.
This is an application developed by the Good Lock team, so it has an interface that follows the Samsung style. What does it consist of? Well, it’s a suite of options that modify the behavior of our mobile cameras.
Shortcuts to different zoom levels, smoother photos, resolution settings… “Camera Assistant” does more than enough to change some values and options of the native camera app. Because yes, it will only affect the Samsung camera app. If you use a third-party app, it won’t have the desired effect.
NOW, what are these options? In summary, here’s everything you can change in Camera Assistant:
- Zoom shortcuts– Change the quick access buttons to different zoom magnifications. You can hide the existing ones and add a x100.
- Auto HDR: Automatically disable or enable HDR.
- Smooth photos: Default is off, photos will have finer details.
- Automatic lens change: Does your Galaxy switch between lenses without you touching a button? This is an active option by default, you can remove it here.
- Distortion correction: Helps photos appear more natural by correcting lines that appear crooked or curved, which can occur when using some lenses, especially in photos of buildings or landscapes.
- High resolution settings: Techniques used with many megapixels, such as “Adaptive Pixel” which reduces noise by combining low-resolution photos into the final image. As standard it is activated in the camera of our Galaxy and it is advisable to leave it on.
- Quick camera button– Quickly take photos with the camera button.
- Prioritize concentration over speed: Focuses the camera before releasing the shutter button. We will get better focused photos, but it will take longer to capture them.
- Video recording in Photo mode: A long press on the camera button will activate video mode.
- Multi-outlet options with timer: As long as the timer option is enabled, we can take different captures instead of one, and separate them in time as we wish.
- DOF adapter correction– Helps improve focus in photos where there are different depths, for example when there is a close object and a more distant background. Applies only to “Pro” and “Pro Video” modes.
- Anamorphic lens correction– Automatically adjusts photos and videos captured with special lenses that compress the image
- Audio monitoring: Allows you to listen to audio from a video recording while connected to headphones or speakers, and even on devices with HDMI or USB.
- Camera timeout: The time it takes to lock the screen when using the camera.
- Dark screen while recording: Save battery power when the camera app is running by reducing the screen brightness.
- Preview on HDMI displays– As long as your phone is connected to an HDMI monitor, you will see the camera preview on your device.
