Craving more Killzone? One Guerrilla developer says they “had enough as a team” when the studio chose to move to Horizon

While there are plenty of FPS players willing to give Guerilla Games a hand in letting it put down the Horizon series, which has been remaking Killzone for the past decade, the studio itself seems to be unsure about choosing to give Aloy a new title. It’s quite satisfying to switch careers and go on adventures.

In an interview with The Washington Post about LEGO Horizon Adventures, one of many upcoming Horizon products, long-time Guerilla art director Roy Postma shared what the developer did with 2013’s Killzone Shadow Fall. A perspective on taking on new challenges after launch. – is currently the swan song of the series.

Postma, who has been with Guerrilla since 2000, said: “As a team, we have completed it. As a studio, we need to update the color palette. It was a voluntary choice and it is consistent with “The Killing”. “Zone” instead.” He added of “Horizon”: “I think the themes that the story and the characters represent are relevant to all ages and people, like finding a family with friends and being in the world. Find your place.”

This is certainly frustrating for those who personally prefer dark future shooters to action-adventure open worlds filled with machines that fight with bows and arrows and display a back-to-nature post-apocalyptic style. But hey, if developers are more comfortable doing it, surely that’s what matters?

Plus, you’d be hard-pressed to try and come up with some argument that Guerilla isn’t succeeding with its newer IP, even if it’s costing Sony the big first-party FPS it once had. That being said, if they’re desperate to restore this and keep Guerilla afloat, loaning Killzone to another PlayStation-affiliated studio would certainly be an option, even if there are fewer and fewer of them these days.

Regardless, while we’re talking what-ifs, I’ll continue to wait for Motorstorm and Burnout to emerge as afterlife versions of their beloved IPs.

Speaking of disgruntled video gamers, Sony recently added the PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered to the list of games that require a PlayStation Network account, making it possible for those who live in countries that don’t currently operate the service to This is achieved by purchasing the service on the platform.
