The development history of The Wolf Among Us 2 has been quite turbulent so far – not least due to massive problems with the development team. According to a whistleblower, the project has now even been discontinued and there has been no official statement. Now the studio is speaking out and clearing up the rumors.
In April 2024, Telltale commented on the development status of The Wolf Among Us and gave the all-clear: The project is still in development, even after massive layoffs at the studio. The fans cheered, but the joy didn’t last long. A supposed whistleblower recently stated that, according to internal sources, the project was about to be discontinued.

Because of the Reddit post, Telltale was forced to respond to the rumors. The following statement was made to colleagues at Eurogamer: “We usually don’t comment on rumors or unfounded posts on Reddit. But development of The Wolf Among Us 2 continues and we look forward to sharing more details about the game with Telltale fans and to share with our community when the time is right.”
So you can breathe a sigh of relief, The Wolf Among Us 2 is still being developed. Nevertheless, the question remains exciting as to how long production will last. The title was announced for the first time in July 2017. Seven years of development is no small feat and is reminiscent of Duke Nukem Forever in the worst possible way.
However, this long time can also be explained by the problems of the Telltale Games studio. In 2018, the studio famously had to lay off tons of developers and ultimately even close its doors. The following year it rose again like the phoenix from the ashes and The Wolf Among Us 2 was further developed. Since then, the game based on Bill Willingham’s comics has been postponed several times.
