Rebuild the Jedi Order, correct the old mistakes and teach a new generation of students how to use the Force. This is supposed to be Rey Skywalker’s new task in her upcoming solo film, with the working title “New Jedi Order”, in the Star Wars universe.
That the strip has the suffix at the end Episode 10
will be awarded is still up in the air. In terms of content, Rey’s new adventure is definitely the continuation of Episode 9 – Rise of Skywalker.
The new project was announced in 2023 and everything was already fixed: direction, script and release window. Now one of these pillars is collapsing like the Death Star during the Rebel attack.
Rey loses her co-pilot to the script
Like the magazine Variety now write, screenwriter Steven Knight is leaving (No Turning Back, In the Web of Temptation) the project came as a surprise. In March 2023, Knight took over the work of Damon Lindelof (Lost, Watchmen) and Justin Britt-Gibson (Counterpart, Banshee), who also turned their backs on the work.
Lucasfilm and Disney are currently looking for a new candidate for the position.

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy remains in the director’s chair. The filmmaker most recently worked on the superhero series Ms. Marvel and has been awarded the Oscar for best documentary short film twice in recent years.
In an interview in June 2024, Obaid-Chinoy revealed that she is excited to continue telling Rey’s story (via Variety). Specifically she said:
The story that interests me most is Rey’s journey as a female Jedi. […] This is the best way I can contribute my experiences.

You can watch the new Star Wars series Skeleton Crew on Disney+ from December 3rd, 2024.
What is known about “New Jedi Order”.
The new film, with the working title “New Jedi Order,” will take place 15 years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Rey has made it her mission to rebuild the Jedi Order and runs an academy that teaches her students how to use the Force.
Of course, Daisy Ridley, who plays the title heroine Rey Skywalker, is also on board. Apart from her, no other cast member has been confirmed yet. However, it is entirely conceivable that some well-known characters from episodes 7-9, such as Rey’s friend Finn (John Boyega) or pilot Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), will return – even if only in small cameo roles.
Rey’s new solo adventure is actually scheduled to hit theaters at the end of 2026. It remains to be seen whether this plan can still be implemented.
On May 21, 2026, things will continue with The Mandalorian & Grogu, who will then make the galaxy unsafe together again.
If you need more Star Wars in your everyday life beforehand: From December 3, 2024 you can watch the new series Skeleton Crew with Jude Law on Disney+.
