Immediately upon release, Sonic X Shadow Generations turned out to be an absolute bestseller.
SEGA could hardly have expected a much better start: Sonic According to the company, the one million sales mark was broken on the day of publication.
Buyers of the more expensive Digital Deluxe Edition were able to get started three days earlier this week. The feedback so far has been consistently positive. Some players even go so far as to call it one of the best games in the long-standing successful franchise.

Sonic X Shadow Generations has already become one of the fastest-selling games in the entire franchise. Sonic Frontiers’ launch sales figures have also already been surpassed.
The original Sonic Generations, which was released for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, had achieved 1.85 million sales by May 2012 – a mark that seems to be within reach given the start of sales for the remaster. The best-selling 3D Sonic to date is Sonic Frontiers, which sold 3.5 million copies by the end of April 2023.
