Beyond Good & Evil 2 doesn’t have an easy and, above all, long story behind it, but now it finally seems to be moving forward.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 was announced back in 2008, only to disappear into obscurity for years. There was correspondingly great joy and astonishment when the game was re-introduced in 2017 – but developments since then have not been under a good star. But now something seems to be happening in a positive sense.
After it was emphasized again and again that the sci-fi sequel would not be canceled and would continue to be pursued, the title has, according to a new report from the usually well-informed insiders of My city progress has now been made. Beyond Good & Evil 2 is said to have recently successfully mastered a major internal milestone within the company and the managers are reportedly satisfied with the progress made.
The report goes on to say that the team has now found a certain level of consistency and foundation – and that is also quite remarkable after many turbulent years, especially since there is currently a certain amount of unrest at Ubisoft. Only recently did it become public that the team behind Prince of Persia: The Last Crown was disbanded and assigned to other projects within the company.
As far as Beyond Good & Evil 2 is concerned, the development team has been fundamentally restructured several times – although not always voluntarily. Among other things, the project had to cope with the death of Emile Morel, who had previously worked as creative director, was also hit by various departures in the senior staff and had other construction sites to close. In this respect, reaching the internal milestone now seems to be a good step in the right direction. We can only hope that things will move forward and that we will soon get new impressions of the sci-fi sequel.
