Insomniac confirmed last week that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will not feature new story content, but the new update may still be welcomed by (some) fans.
To the dismay of many Marvel Spider-Man 2 fans, when Insomniac and Sony announced last week that the game would be coming to PC in 2025, they also revealed some information about the game’s no longer planned story content. “While we have no additional story content planned for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we are excited to bring all of our previously released post-launch content to the PC version,” the blog post explains. This apparently directly confirms that there will be no DLC, despite fans speculating and hoping that more DLC will be coming to the game. There’s even an update that seems to accidentally reveal some potential unreleased content, but the decision was clearly made somewhere not to release it.

But, at the very least, an update for the game has been released that should make it look snappier… as long as you’re playing on the upcoming PS5 Pro. From now on, on PS5 Pro, the default mode for games will be Performance Pro, which targets 60 frames per second while “preserving the image quality of standard fidelity mode by using PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution,” or, you know, piss , I mean, PSSR. This mode includes ray tracing capabilities, and Insomniac says it’s the recommended mode.

There’s also a new Fidelity Pro mode that only hits 30 frames per second and lets you “try out new ray-traced graphics features.” These include switches such as Ray Traced Keylight Shadows, Reflections and Interiors, and Ambient Occlusion, all of which you can turn off and on at your leisure.
A similar update has been released for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, so if you’re planning on buying a PS5 Pro, you’ll have at least a couple of Insomniac games with slightly improved looks that you can look forward to replaying.
