Dave Bautista just starred in a movie about a group of alien invaders masquerading as a 1950s motorcycle gang, and he was just one of the A-list actors.
You may not know David and Nathan Zellner, but thanks to the huge cast of their next film, The Alfa Gang , you probably will soon. According to The Hollywood Reporter , Guardians of the Galaxy and Knocked Up actor Dave Bautista has joined the project, along with a long list of other actors, including Cha Ning Tatum (Deadpool and The Wolverine), Cate Blanchett (The Lord of the Rings), Steven Yeun (Invincible), Zoe Kravitz (The Bat Man of Steel), Leigh Seydoux (Death Stranding) and Riley Keough (Mad Max: Fury Road). There’s a lot of star power packed into a movie, and it’s packaged into a concept that sounds very interesting.

According to “The Hollywood Reporter”, “Alpha Gang” is set in a “highly realistic” setting and tells the story of some alien invaders who come to Earth in the 1950s and disguise themselves as a leather-clad motorcycle gang ready to fight. Conquer the Earth. It all starts to unravel when the aliens learn about the fickleness of what we humans like to call emotions, and Blanchett will apparently play Alpha One, the leader of the alien group.
While you may not have heard of the Zellner Brothers before, there’s a chance you’ve heard of their work before – they’re probably best known for the 2014 film Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter, which was based on an urban legend. The story follows a Japanese woman who believes Fargo is a true story, as it purports to be, and sets out to find the ransom buried within. This year, they also released Sasquatch Sunset, an equally quirky film starring Keough and Jesse Eisenberg who portray a Sasquatch family over the course of a year. You can tell the brothers have a “generally weird” vibe.
Alpha Gang is going to be snapped up at next week’s American Movie Market, and there’s a lot of talk about it, so you might expect A24 to pick it up soon and pretend it’s theirs.
