There are a lot of Marvel fans who want Josh Brolin to return as Thanos in some form, and it sounds like the actor is generally welcoming of it.
Thanos took nearly a decade to create, and the character was eventually written off outright in two Avengers movies, but considering the multiverse shenanigans the MCU has been pulling off in the years since, it’s clear that There’s still room for him to join. Come back in some shape or form. While there are no clear plans to bring him back, even with the introduction of a character closely related to him in the comics, the question of his return remains a lingering one. The actor who plays him, Josh Brolin, recently attended New York Comic Con and shared his thoughts on potential revenge for the character in an interview with Collider.

“I’m not kidding — there are perks to playing Thanos. It’s like, ‘Oh, they’re bringing Thanos back.’ It’s like ‘Sicario’; it has to be right,” the actor said. ” It’s like Ryan Reynolds and I were talking about Taylor Swift and we should be talking about Deadpool 4. But we go back and forth. Again, that’s what his ideas fit into, and what my ideas fit into. Thanos has to fit, and if you’re bringing him back, I’ll do whatever the Russo brothers want me to do. To be clear, it doesn’t sound like the actor is saying the character will come back at all, just that if he does, he’ll want it to be for the right reasons (even though he clearly has a lot of faith in the Russo brothers).
Whether Thanos has any plans, who knows – but considering Robert Downey Jr. will be playing Doctor Doom in the upcoming fifth Avengers film, The Avengers , Marvel seems more interested in bringing him back interested. : Doomsday. The movie is set to be released on May 1, 2026, so we still have a while to learn more, but I personally wouldn’t bet against a Thanos revival.
