Many of Dragon Age: The Veil Guardian‘S Decisions are personal and focus on your team’s relationships and life paths. However, one of the big, world-changing events comes early on, shortly after you recruit Davrin. the Gray Warden’s companion. Right now, you may be faced with the choice of helping either the Tevinter city of Minrathous or Treviso, home base of the Antivan Crows, from coordinated dragon attacks. If you’re not sure which decision to make and want to know what outcomes each option has, we’re here to lay it out for you.
This choice impacts your party and your faction allies, as both the Tevinter mage Neve and the Antivan assassin Lucanis hail from the affected cities. You essentially make a decision about which city and faction can help you better when the time comes, pointing Neve or Lucanis down a particular path in their stories and even in their combat roles. Here is the overview of the consequences.
- The person you don’t help will temporarily leave the group
- When they return, they are considered “hardened,” which locks parts of their skill tree and makes it harder to develop their relationship over the course of the game without higher approval
- You will lose some choices in Neve and Lucanis’ personal storylines and they will be forced to take a direction due to circumstances
- The city you don’t save will be destroyed, changing quest lines and dialogue, and blocking access to the local faction’s shop
- The Shadow Dragons or Antivan Crows will suffer a base loss of allied strength points, meaning it will be impossible to maximize them
By and large, it’s still a binary decision that balances itself out, but more importantly it will have a fairly direct impact on your relationship with Neve and Lucanis. It is still possible to reach the end of their storyline (including the possibility of becoming a Hero of the Shroud Guard, which is the equivalent of achieving maximum loyalty in battle). I’m not sure at this point if it excludes you from Neve and Lucanis’ respective romances or not. I saved Minrathous during my playthrough and my relationship with Lucanis was progressing slowly for a while, so I saw no other options for flirting and eventually settled into my romance with Davrin.
