Are these actual game developers or just people who want to troll the gaming industry hard? You don’t know, but the impression is getting stronger and stronger.
You’re really starting to run out of words about what Fntastic is doing. The Day Before is already considered one of the biggest scams in gaming history. We remember: The zombie survival MMO became a real source of hope with trailers at the time. Until it appeared and had almost nothing to do with the trailers and promises and was switched off after just a few hours.
In September, the creators announced another crowdfunded project, Escape Factory, which was quickly dismissed as a scam by data miners. And back in October, Escape Factory was kicked into the trash and a new title, ITEMS, was announced. And this is already making negative headlines and casting an even worse light on the developers.
The developers called for a competition via their Discord server in which user maps should be created for ITEMS. Of course, without payment and without any tangible gain, apart from a copy of the game and a mention by name somewhere on the map. “This competition offers you the opportunity to express your creativity and design a map that, if won, will be added to the game in future updates,” the announcement reads.
The entry rules state that entries can be 2D drawings, 3D models or “any other style”. In addition to the map design, submissions must also include images and graphics, a full description, the map’s theme, layout, and balancing notes.
Or to put it another way: Fntastic seems to leave the work to you instead of hiring developers and contributing something. Not new either, supposedly Fntastic already used a lot of unpaid volunteers on The Day Before. Wild. We’re already looking forward to the next chapter of the Fntastic soap opera.
