In case there was any doubt that Monster Hunter: Wildlands will be one of the hottest games of 2025, its arrival on Steam will prove that PC players will be among the first to jump into the highly anticipated sequel in February .
The Wild Survival beta launched overnight and has become one of the most played games on Steam.

Soon after the beta version of “Monster Hunter Wilderness” was launched, it quickly shot up on the Steam rankings. The game peaked at 463,798 players (via SteamDB), a number that will undoubtedly continue to rise over the weekend. With nearly 500,000 simultaneous players, it’s enough to rank among the top five most popular games on Steam.
Since the release of Monster Hunter World in 2018, Steam has become one of the largest platforms for Monster Hunter World. While Monster Hunter Rise didn’t attract as many viewers on PC, Capcom is likely banking on Into the Wild as the next full-length sequel to reignite interest in the series.
It seems the publisher had the right idea. The number of simultaneous online players in the beta version of “Wilds” is already far higher than the highest level in the history of “World”. The number of simultaneous online players reached 334,684 when the game was released. While it’s unfair to compare the free beta to the full-priced game, it’s undeniably indicative of the appetite for a new mainline Monster Hunter. It’s a bit difficult to guess whether Outer Wilds will match or exceed World’s Steam numbers, but so far, all signs are positive.
The open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds ends on Sunday, November 3rd. To get involved, simply head to the game’s Steam page and click the “Request Access” button. You will gain access immediately and can start downloading. The beta supports cross-platform play on PlayStation and Xbox, and you can even earn some rewards by playing the full version of the game.
