We love Chappell Roan here My city. The “Good Luck, Babe” singer releases queer hits, dresses in chain mail at awards shows and has built a following of gay nerds who Record your shows on Nintendo handhelds. So when she shows up Saturday Night Live This weekend, November 2nd, I will be tuned in and seated. However, before the show airs, Roan is already seen in some promotional materials for the show and her outfit is activated Dragon Age Fans, as if they weren’t already in for an exhilarating week following the release of The Veil Guardian To Halloween.

Roan is scheduled to be this week’s musical guest Saturday Night Livewith stand-up comedian and former SNL Author John Mulaney will host the show. They both appeared in some promotional videos for the episode, and yes, Mulaney is there, but Roan’s elaborate outfit is the star of the show. The green and gold outfit features a huge crescent-shaped headpiece with gold waist pieces that extend to the sides and appear to serve as armrests. The whole setup is something straight out of a fantasy RPG, and people Fan bases like Final Fantasy jump on the jokes. However, Dragon Age is on everyone’s lips and I also had to laugh at how Roan’s outfit is reminiscent of Ghilan’nain, one of the elven gods the player faces The Veil Guardian.

Ghilan’nain is a twisted elf, and without getting too far into the weeds, that means her body has been transformed into a monstrous, uncanny horror. This lady has multiple arms and tentacles and her face is hidden under a mask connected to a crescent-shaped headdress. In close-ups, you can see that her face is just as horrific beneath the mask, and why she was so willing to become this monstrosity is part of it the story you will discover The Veil Guardian. With the headgear and tendril-like appendages, Roan’s outfit is reminiscent of the elven god of guides and navigation Dragon Age Fans all make the same joke.

However, Ghilan’nain has nothing to do with Chappell Roan. Is the elf god a strange icon? I mean, not yet, but she could be. But all I ever saw her do was kill the queer friend group this is the veil guardian. That’s not a very “ally” of hers.
