In a few weeks, your iPhone will receive an update that will allow you to do things you’ve never been able to do before
Very soon Your iPhone is about to receive a software update that could change everything. Of course, it won’t be the same. Apple has been forced to make a series of changes to iOS due to European laws, which will profoundly affect the system.
Apple has already programmed everything and, after the launch of iOS 18.1, will introduce these important changes in iOS 18.2. An update that should arrive throughout December, before the end of the year. So we don’t have much left to install it.
iOS 18.2 will completely change your iPhone
For several generations of iOS, the operating system has allowed remove apps pre-installed by Apple. That’s okay, if you don’t want the Apple Weather app or the Maps, Notes, or Music app, you can delete them.
However, some operating system applications could not be removed because they were considered essential. Apps like Phone, Messages, Photos, Safari or App Store cannot be deleted completely from the iPhone we can remove them from the home screen, but they are part of the system itself and Apple does not allow their complete removal. Until now.
everything will change with iOS 18.2 which will allow you to completely remove all pre-installed applications on the iPhone, includ ing the App Store
From the new section in Settings > Applications > Default applications we can change the applications that we use by default on the iPhone. Being able to choose applications for these functions:
- Installing applications.
- E-mail.
- Messages.
- Calls.
- Call screening.
- Internet browser.
- Passwords.
This is the This is the first time that Apple allows you to configure alternative applications to the App Store, Messages or calls by defaultsomething we’ve had for a long time with the web browser or email app. Soon we’ll start seeing alternatives to these native Apple apps in the App Store.
This raises many questions, such as what to do if deleted from the App Storesince this is the only place from which we can reinstall Apple applications. In this case, We can reinstall the App Store from iPhone settings. In Settings > Application installation we will find a button to reinstall the App Store on the iPhone.
I don’t think that This is something a lot of people will do.Ultimately, these types of apps work great and who knows how other developers’ apps will work. At the moment, only European iPhone users hate making these types of changes and deleting these apps; in the rest of the world, they will continue to be mandatory applications.
