Scavenger RuleOne of the best sci-fi shows in a long time, and apparently there isn’t a second season yet, and I’m not happy with it.
Last year, HBO released a very special little animated sci-fi series called Scavenger Reign. It’s weird, charming, and one of the best animated shows for adults I’ve seen in a long time. I even wrote last year that adult animation has a bright future as long as those in charge let it, but the move to Netflix has created uncertainty for the show. Unfortunately, things are a little less certain now, with co-creator Joe Bennett sharing the news on his personal Instagram: “As of now, Scavenger Reign will not be renewed for a second season.”

Bennett went on to explain, “I want to let everyone know first hand because I really love our fan base and they have been champions of this show and I don’t want to leave everyone hanging. We have to give it our all. From Starting with the Scavengers short in 2016 and leading up to the launch of the first season last year, we worked hard every step of the way to create the show.”

You can check out the Instagram post above, which comes with a small trailer showing off what a hypothetical second season might look like, which Bennett explained was produced in-house at Green Street Pictures. “It’s not over yet. There’s more stories to tell and we’re ready to work on the next season, and we’ve created a trailer for season two inside Green Street. Thanks again to everyone involved for watching and supporting the show ”
I’m personally very devastated by this news and really hope someone, somewhere decides to give it at least another season, because it really has been a long time since there’s been a sci-fi show like this.
