Although RPGs are among my favorite genres in video games, I’ve always left the Japanese side of that market a bit aside with a few exceptions, as watching anime has been another hobby of mine since I was as a child, play titles based on these series. have been something very rare in my life, apart from some Dragon Ball. Now that the anime seems to be having one of its best moments, so are the JRPGs based on these productions and although I haven’t followed Sword Art Online for a long time, I have therefore missed the origin of a lot of these characters that I got to know while playing this title which, although it had its buts, managed to hook me properly.

I’ll take this opportunity to start by talking about the story of this game, in which Kirito and company test a new VR MMO. Due to the implementation of a program in several games, these are mixed, as well as their players who also lose part of their memories, so we will have to find out what is happening and how to solve it while we face monsters of all types. for the scenarios presented to us.
Technical section
In the technical section I’m not going to go into too much detail, but in general I have good vibes with this game and its optimization, since we get a colorful world that, at least for me, fits quite well with the characters that are presented to us there, all loaded with vegetation or details depending on the area in which we find ourselves.
This all runs at a minimum of 60 fps, from Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream It didn’t allow me to change my Xbox Series performance settings but it is clear that the game works really well; Although it is true that I noticed some small jerks in the online missions, although it is something that did not affect the experience.
In terms of sound we are also faced with something remarkable with a very anime soundtrack that starts playing from the title menu itself.
Gameplay
It is surely in this section that I have to develop the most, starting with the gameplay of the missions themselves, since in these they will propel us into a level with a main mission that essentially consists of finding the main boss and to defeat him. While we get to this point we will have to face different groups of enemies that will appear along the way, and when we defeat them they will give us certain rewards to improve ourselves as we advance in the level.
The combat part is of course where the fun lies in Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream and becomes more varied than I could have initially imagined. We will have different character classes like tank or support, but like in this story the characters from games that are not in the fantasy genre are mixed because some characters are more typical of a shooter like Gears of War with rifles. assault and grenade launchers, being something I was pleasantly surprised by and he seems like the funniest guy.
Of course, when it comes to combat, all characters have the same number of skills, including the ability to heal with limited items and a definitive attack that will charge as the fight progresses and which are generally quite powerful. This is in addition to the fact that we can switch between characters within the group we have chosen for and during the mission, although in the end Only the main one that we choose before entering the battlefield will gain experience.
It should also be clarified that we will have other types of objectives within the missions, something more secondary and used as an incentive for the exploration of the scenarios, such as finding chests guarded by enemies, counter- shows and even secondary bosses with whom we will have to fight with all our strength and our equipment. All this will give us more rewards by successfully completing the levels, being able to find better equipment and cosmetics with which to customize our protagonists to our liking.
When we have completed the missions we will level up both in terms of player profile and the main character that we will choose and with this we will go to a rest cabin where we will have different sections such as the forge of weapons. We can create new equipment with materials obtained while playing, although I saw this part as not very useful, especially since the rewards they give us for a mission are usually abundant if we complete both the main objective and secondary objectives.
Each time we choose a mission we will have the menu with the different roles and characters, being able to form a group of four in total and which we can customize before starting with the aim of having the highest level of equipment and d ‘to be on par with the enemies. You can also change the skin and emoticons which are more focused on the cooperative part.
When selecting missions we have a good handful of options, namely the main and side story missions, in which we will have story moments with cutscenes in which the characters interact with each other others. The secondaries would only serve to receive additional rewards, although in both cases this is what we will focus on the most, but we also have other sections like open missions in which we will be dropped on a huge map and we have one hour to complete a series of objectives, in addition to cooperative missions in which we will be grouped with other players with whom we will have to collaborate.
Duration
Trying to clarify the length of this game is somewhat complicated, because the amount of content it launched with on Xbox is really large, with a story mode; with main missions and online side cooperative missions etc., so it will not be a game to spend a few hours on, even if you focus on the story, so I assure you that Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream will not is not a short game.
Conclusion
Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream is a clear love letter to fans of the anime series, putting a large number of recognizable characters in the same story and also a huge amount of content that will not allow us to let go of the controller for long sessions game that we will be able to add, giving us a really fun anime game that surprises in certain sections like the wide variety of character classes.
