Now poses Royal Enfield will present its first electric motorcycles as part of the EICMA motorcycle trade fair, where the new Vespa is also expected to celebrate its premiere. The two models C6 and S6 appear under the name Flying Flea. Royal Enfield, like Harley-Davidson, is outsourcing its electric motorcycle business to a subsidiary brand with “Livewire”.
The name Flying Flea alludes to a historical Royal Enfield model from the Second World War, which could be dropped by parachute due to its low weight. There are some parallels in the design of the two new products. Commenting on the market entry into the world of electromobility, CEO Govindarajan said:
We have invested heavily in electric vehicle R&D and infrastructure over the last few years, building a world-class team of over 200 engineers in India and the UK. We have also started developing an EV manufacturing facility in Chennai, India. We invested in Barcelona-based Stark Future, known for its advanced electric off-road motorcycles. All aspects of our connected electric motorcycles, including product strategy and development, technical components such as motor, battery, BMS, custom software and our retail and market strategy, have been developed in-house by our dedicated technical and commercial teams.

Differences between Flying Flea C6 and S6
The classically designed Flying Flea C6 is closely based on the original model. The model, made for urban areas, offers modern driving aids such as cornering ABS, a battery housing made of lightweight magnesium and a touchscreen.
If desired, the smartphone can replace the key. In contrast, there is the Flying Flea S6, which has a scrambler look aimed at easy off-road excursions, at least visually. Royal Enfield still lacks information on range, top speed, weight and performance.
Price and availability
The first model to be launched in spring 2016 is the Flying Flea C6. The S6 model will follow at a later date. It is not yet known how high the price of the electric motorcycles will be. You can read more topics about (electric) mobility here on Netzwelt.
