Have you ever wished your iPhone would tell you how long it would take to charge? This could soon become a reality.
According to 9to5Mac, the feature was found in the code of iOS 18.2 beta 2, which was made available to developers on November 4. A new framework, called “BatteryIntelligence,” calculates the remaining charge time based on the amount of power the phone receives. Users will be able to receive a notification with an estimate, for example, of the time it will take to reach 80% charge.
The feature is not yet activated or finalized. It might be available in a future iOS 18.2 beta or another update. However, it’s worth noting that macOS already has a similar feature on the MacBook.
With iOS 18, Apple has already added a few key new features related to battery health.
Users can now limit the maximum charge to 80, 85, 90, or 95%, rather than charging to 100% every time, which should increase battery performance in the long run. It can also now recognize when you’re charging with a slow charger rather than a full power charger.
If this charge time feature is also added, it would give iPhone users a full suite of battery health tools that should extend battery life and make charging more convenient.
