This comes as a surprise: Death Stranding is now available for Microsoft’s Xbox and another platform. There was no prior notice to this effect.
Unexpected things often happen – that’s not just what people say, but sometimes it really is. In this case, the saying applies to Death Stranding from Kojima Productions, because just in time for the game’s 5th anniversary, the title is now suddenly available for other platforms – without this having been communicated in advance.
Together with publisher 505 Games, Kojima Productions has now announced that the comprehensive director’s cut of the post-apocalyptic game starring Walking Dead star Norman Reedus is now also available for Xbox Series X/S and Windows PC.
On top of that, Death Stranding also finds its way onto Amazon’s cloud gaming platform Luna and can now be played there. Prime members can even play the Director’s Cut for a month as part of their membership from December 1st at no additional cost.
On the occasion of the sudden release of new game implementations, Kojima Production released another message about the franchise: The development studio is now the full rights holder of the entire Death Stranding IP. This should also increase the chances that the sequel Death Stranding 2 may also be available for PC and Xbox Series X/s upon release, unless Sony has secured a time-exclusive deal.
The PC version of Death Stranding now actually ends up in Microsoft’s PC Games Pass – but not in the Xbox Game Pass.
