While we wait to hear more about Gears of War E-Day, here’s an announcement that should definitely please fans of the legendary franchise.
After months of rumors and other leaks, the famous Gears 6 was finally announced during the Xbox Games Showcase 2024. However, there is no talk of a continuation of the adventures of Kait Diaz and her gang, but of a return to the sources and a prequel with Gears of War E-Day. The opportunity for fans to reunite with good old Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago. And we now know which voice actors will be lending their voices to this iconic duo.
It was so good that we wanted more for Gears of War E Day
Instead of a sequel, Gears of War E-Day is intended to be a prequel to the first three games. As the name suggests, the next title will specifically trace the events of the famous Emergence Day. A catastrophic, fateful date for Terra and its inhabitants as the Locusts emerge from the depths and wreak havoc on everything in their path. We will therefore find Marcus and Dom in particular much younger than in the first work, released on Xbox 360 in 2006.
To embody them, the official Gears of War X.com account had a big announcement to make to early fans. John DiMaggio et Carlos Ferrothe original voice actors of our two friends, will actually do it re-stackeven if they haven’t really gotten any younger in 18 years. However, this ensures some consistency between the prequel and the original games. It now remains to be seen whether the same choice will be made regarding the French dubbing.
However, in addition to this double return to basics, Gears of War E-Day promises to be significantly different from the other games in the license. These were much more “intimate” and profound battles against locusts that humanity knows nothing about. In any case, everything should be rendered excellently on an Unreal Engine 5, which The Coalition is particularly good at. A “new” Gears is very promising on paper. See you in 2025 on PC and Xbox Series to find out for sure.
