Valve has announced a new white and gray variant of its hugely popular portable PC device Steam deck. This upcoming version of the handheld PC will cost $680 and will go on sale on November 18th.
We’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating: Valves Steam Deck is a great piece of hardware. It’s the best, most affordable handheld PC on the market, and since its launch in 2022, it’s quickly inspired imitators and changed the way people play games. But the original Steam deck
On November 11thValve announced the limited edition of the all-white Steam Deck OLED. The device will be available in all Steam Deck shipping regions including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Australia.
This new version of the Steam Deck has the same specifications as the previously existing OLEDincludes 1TB of storage, but also comes with a white carrying case and cleaning cloth.
Valve warns that this model is a limited edition device and that no further white Steam decks will be produced after the release of this batch. “Once we sell out, we will sell out.” Valve explained in a news post about the device.
You must have a full Steam account that has made at least one purchase before November 2024 to purchase the new, all-white, limited edition Steam Deck. Accounts are limited to pre-ordering one device only.
Valve explains Eurogamer that this new version of the Steam Deck is another experiment in offering different variants to people around the world.
“Last year we released a limited edition smoky, translucent Steam Deck OLED as an experiment to see if there was interest in alternative colorways (there was!). This is our second experiment in this direction,” said Valve.
As someone who wanted to wait until the next major rework to update their Steam deck, this all-white option makes it difficult to fulfill that commitment.
