Does anyone remember Black Mesa, the fan-favorite Half-Life remake? Well, the developers are soon launching their own game, Rogue Point.
Crowbar Collective has already made a good name for itself with Black Mesa. The fan remake of Half-Life is one of the best-rated titles on Steam and has endless fans. Now the developers have hatched their own game that will go into early access next year.
Rogue Point is the name of the new baby and is intended to be a cooperative, more tactical shooter with roguelike elements. The story in brief: “The CEO, the richest man in the world, is dead. Cutthroat corporations are trying to divide his kingdom among themselves. With the MERX app, rival businessmen can order private mercenary armies as easily as takeout! Only Rogue Point, an elite, independent vigilante group, dares to defend itself.”
The game will initially have four different environments (airport, shopping center, office, oil rig) and will always offer new challenges through random elements and the layout of the maps will also change again and again. With the wages you earn in the missions, you can continually expand and expand your equipment, for example with tactical accessories or weapon attachments. Currently planned are 22 weapons, 5 color and camouflage skins, 11 tactical devices, 25 weapon attachments and 55 cosmetic items.
In addition to the campaign missions, there will also be an endgame mission with particularly difficult opponents. The gameplay is intended to combine fast-paced action with strategy and tactical elements, while random and roguelike elements are intended to promote replayability.
Crowbar Collective secured the help of Team 17 to finance the project, so it appears that this will not just be a self-financed indie story. If the team manages to achieve a similarly good implementation as Black Mesa, there could be a real insider shooter tip waiting for you. There is a first trailer, as well as initial information on the Game’s Steam page.
