A new rumor about the Switch successor is making people sit up and take notice: Will the console possibly get a performance mode?
We are still waiting for the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, which may not take until next year 2025. Accordingly, for now we have to be content with the rumors that keep coming up – and now there is an extremely interesting new rumor like this. Accordingly, the Switch 2 could receive a feature that has never been available on any other Nintendo console: a performance mode.
The well-known leaker Nash Weedle from Europe is now bringing such a performance mode into play; He claims to have received relevant information from an unspecified source who has access to the console’s dev kit.
In the console’s still available handheld mode, there should be a selection switch that you can use to switch performance mode on and off. Using this switching option, you can set priorities between longer battery life or higher performance.
As Nash Weedle explains in this context, this option is only available in handheld mode, which you will probably be able to technically expand in the future – at the expense of battery life. In docked mode, the console should – as before – run at higher performance anyway.
An official confirmation of the feature is of course still pending and will probably be left until the official presentation of the hardware. After all, Nintendo had recently confirmed that the Switch 2 is completely backwards compatible and can play all Switch games. This is probably intended to ensure continued software sales in this year’s Christmas business.
