Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise is getting a brand new entry on mobile devices Monster Hunter Outlandersdevelopers TiMi Studio Group and Capcom announced on Tuesday. The upcoming game is described as an open-world survival game set in the Monster Hunter universe and will include a character collection aspect Genshin Impact and another recently announced AAA spinoff, Destiny: Ascension.
Monster Hunter Outlanders promises a “traditional hunting experience” with open-world exploration, diverse ecosystems, gear crafting and cooperative play for up to four players, according to the creators. “It’s time for mobile gamers to fully enjoy what makes Monster Hunter one of the most popular franchises in gaming,” TiMi Studio Group producer Dong Huang said in a press release. “Monster Hunter Outlanders not only offers players an authentic hunting experience, but also in a massive open world with the community and social systems that players are looking for today.”
Monster Hunter Outlanders There will also be a ton of attractive characters to collect, presumably gacha-style, as well as a range of cute pet companions (not just Palicoes).
Monster Hunter Outlanders does not have a release date, but TiMi said it will conduct several playtests before the game’s global release.
Capcom has released a handful of mobile games based on the 20-year-old Monster Hunter brand, but most have been smaller, mini-game-focused takes on series elements, and many have only been released in Japan. Capcom and Niantic released Monster Hunter nowA Pokémon Go-like experience based on Monster Hunter, worldwide in 2023.
The next mainline entry in the franchise, Monster Hunter Wildswill be released on February 28, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X.
