Traditionally, a WhatsApp account could only be used on a mobile phone, but this has changed. You can now use your WhatsApp account on multiple mobile phones and also two WhatsApp accounts on the same mobile phone, since the application officially supports multiple accounts. And it can be very useful to you.
If your mobile is Dual SIM, WhatsApp allows you use both of your phone numbers both on the same mobile, so you can have a personal account and another for work, a secret secondary account or whatever you want.
So you can have two WhatsApp on your mobile
A few years ago, if you wanted to use two WhatsApps on your mobile phone, you had to resort to tricks such as duplicating or cloning applications, something that some mobile phones offer as an additional function. There are also apps like App Cloner, which allow you to install a second copy of an app. These tips are no longer necessary, because WhatsApp supports two accounts officially.
To use two WhatsApp accounts on your mobile, you will need two phone numbers, although they do not necessarily have to be on the same phone, as we will see later. The process to use two accounts on WhatsApp is quite simple, although you have to follow some concrete measures which might not be very intuitive until you figure out where to configure it.
- In WhatsApp, enter the settings menu.
- Next to your name, tap the down arrow icon.
- Credit Add an account.
- Follow the usual process of creating a WhatsApp account, which involves verifying your phone number with a code.
On a Dual SIM mobile, you can configure both SIMs in WhatsApp, but you can also have a secondary account linked. This means that the WhatsApp account is set up on another mobile phone, but you set it up as a linked account on a second mobile phone, the same way WhatsApp Web works.
You can do this by choosing Link as additional device, if WhatsApp gives you the possibility. Alternatively, you can do the same by using the on-screen ⋮ menu to enter the phone number. When you create a linked account, configured by scanning a QR code with the primary mobile phone, instead of a verification code.
After creating a second account on WhatsApp, the best thing is that are completely separated. Every time a notification of a new message arrives, the notification itself indicates whether it belongs to one or the other account and to see the chats of either account you must use the menu ⋮ and Change account.
