After almost 25 years, Ridley Scott returns to the world of swords, sandals and bloody deaths in the arenas. For a long time, 2000’s Gladiator was considered the most incredible modern tale about the ancient world (despite many historical inaccuracies). It is also one of Scott’s most spectacular films, winning five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor.
It looks like the British director is ready to surpass his own feat – based on the trailers, Gladiator 2 has even more panache than its predecessor.
In addition to the impressive set design and full-fledged battle scenes, the film attracts attention thanks to its star cast. The main role, Lucius, Lucilla’s now adult son, is played by Paul Mescal, known for his performance in Normal People and Aftersun. The film also features Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian), Denzel Washington (The Tragedy of Macbeth), Connie Nielsen (Wonder Woman 1984), Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things), Derek Jacobi (Tomb Raider) and Fred Hechinger (The White Lotus).

How to watch Gladiator 2 now
Ridley Scotts new film will premiere in the UK on Friday, November 15, 2024. However, US-based viewers will have to wait one more week: in the US, Gladiator will debut on Friday, November 22, 2024.

When will Gladiator 2 be released on VOD?
Currently, there is no information on when Ridley Scott’s film may appear digitally. However, we can estimate the potential date based on the releases of other Paramount Pictures films.
A lot will depend on how Gladiator 2 performs at the box office. Even though the film market has become very uncertain in recent years and many films that were supposed to be box office successes have failed (e.g. Joker: Folie à deux or Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), Gladiator has a good chance of become a smashing success.
Most of Paramount’s blockbuster films appeared on VOD within a month of their theatrical debut. This was the case with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and A Quiet Place: Day One.
Therefore, Gladiator 2 in the United States could arrive on VOD around December 24, 2024just before Christmas – which would be a great gift for many viewers.
However, the film’s VOD release date in the UK may be different – previous releases have often been a little later than in America. We’ll let you know as soon as we know more.

When will Gladiator 2 be released for streaming?
After premiering on VOD, Paramount Pictures films are typically released on the Paramount+ streaming service. This usually happens quickly – A Quiet Place: Day One appeared on the platform just 28 days after its VOD release. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem took 18 days to make this journey, and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves – only 14.
In the United States, Gladiator 2 could be broadcast on Paramount+ around January 7, 2025 as soon as possible – although it could be later.
Keep in mind that these dates are our predictions – Paramount has not yet provided any information on the subject.
When will Gladiator 2 be released on DVD/Blu-ray?
Physical copies of Gladiator 2 will likely appear last. However, it’s difficult to predict exactly when this might happen, as Paramount doesn’t have a clear model for it.
A Quiet Place: Day One on DVD and Blu-ray has arrived 42 days after its streaming debut. On the other hand, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves arrived in stores just 2 weeks after its appearance on Paramount+. The time window is wide – estimating conservatively, we expect physical copies of Gladiator 2 to go on sale in February 2025.
