The Galaxy Z Fold series has become synonymous with cutting-edge foldable technology.
Although it hasn’t been long since the Galaxy Z Fold 6 launched, rumors about the next entry in the series – the Galaxy Z Fold 7 – are already building anticipation.
Although it’s early in the development cycle, leaks suggest Samsung’s next foldable could be thinner and bigger, with significant improvements across the board.
Here’s what we know so far.
When will the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 be released?
Samsung’s release cycle for flagship devices is well established, with new Galaxy Z Fold models debuting each year during the company’s Unpacked events around the middle of each calendar year.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 launched in 2024, so we can assume that the Z Fold 7 will follow suit in 2025.
If past trends continue, we can expect the Galaxy Z Fold 7 to be revealed in July or August 2025coinciding with next year’s Unpacked event.
How much will the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 cost?
Galaxy Z Fold 7 pricing rumors are speculative at this point, but looking at previous models can give us a reasonable estimate.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 was priced at £1,799/$1,899, which was £100/$100 more than its predecessor. If Samsung follows a similar trend, the Z Fold 7 will likely cost around £1,899/$1,999.

Of course, factors like additional features, inflation, and market competition could also impact the final price.
Once the phone is officially announced, it will likely be available for pre-order immediately after the Unpacked event, just like previous models.
What specs and features will the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 have?
Although we’re still a long way from an official spec sheet, early rumors provide an exciting glimpse into what the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could offer.
Samsung seems to be focused on creating a thinner and lighter device without compromising screen size or performance.
A second model?
Samsung appears to be planning to release two versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 next year, according to a report from Dutch website GalaxyClub.
Three codenames for the upcoming foldables have been revealed: “B7” for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, “Q7” for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and “Q7M” for an unidentified foldable.
The “Q7” codename matches Samsung’s convention for its Fold series, suggesting that Q7 and Q7M could be part of the Fold lineup. However, the “M” in Q7M remains a mystery.
Luc Boulanger
Typically, Samsung Special Edition phones include an “A” suffix, as seen with the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition coded “Q6A.”
The absence of this “A” designation raises the possibility that the Q7M could be a different model, for example the Galaxy Z Fold FE, a more budget-friendly version of the Fold series.
Design
One of the biggest rumors (via Korea Economic Daily) is that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be thinner and lighter than its predecessors.
Reports suggest that Samsung is aiming to make the phone’s folded thickness comparable to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which is just 8.6mm thick. This would be a significant achievement, considering the Z Fold 6 measures 12.1mm when folded.
Luc Boulanger
At the end of August, Honor had teased Samsung while promoting its then product.
Samsung has a history of slimming down its foldables, and the Z Fold 7 could continue that trend while ensuring the phone maintains its durability despite a slimmer profile.
Display
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 could feature a larger screen, with rumors (via TomsGuide) pointing to a foldable interior display that extends up to 8 inches, up from the Z Fold 6’s 7.6-inch main panel. would make it one of the largest foldable screens on the market (despite Huawei’s Mate XT).
Luc Boulanger
Additionally, according to a report from SamMobile, Samsung could use phosphorescent blue OLED (PHOLED) technology, which could enable a brighter display while consuming less power. This change could contribute to the device’s slimmer design by reducing battery size without sacrificing screen quality or longevity.
Performance
Unlike previous models, the latest rumor (via GSMArena) suggests that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 2500 chipset, rather than one of Qualcomm’s better Snapdragon processors, which traditionally power foldables from the business.
Th is change should give Samsung more control over optimizing the Z Fold 7’s performance.
Luc Boulanger
While the Snapdragon 8 Elite is expected to power the Galaxy S25 series, the Z Fold 7’s Exynos chipset is reportedly being tuned to ensure competitive performance.
Cameras
The Z Fold 7’s camera specs remain speculative, but based on Samsung’s track record, we can expect improvements across the board.
The Z Fold 6’s triple-camera setup was already impressive, with a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens. It’s likely that the Z Fold 7 will bring incremental upgrades, potentially adding new sensor technology or improvements to AI-based photography features.
Luc Boulanger
Expect improvements in low-light performance, zoom capabilities, and possibly an improved under-display camera, for an uninterrupted viewing experience on the inner display.
Battery and charging
A thinner device often raises concerns about battery capacity, but Samsung could alleviate this problem with more power-efficient components, such as the PHOLED display mentioned above.
Early reports (via LifeWire) suggest that Samsung could use a smaller battery without sacrificing battery life.
Luc Boulanger
The Z Fold 6 has a 4,400mAh battery with 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging, so at least expect that as a benchmark on the Fold 7.
That said, the 2025 phone should hopefully feature 45W or higher fast charging.
Software
By the time the Z Fold 7 launches, it will likely run on Android 15 equipped with Samsung’s own One UI 7 experience.
Leaks suggest that One UI 7 will be a massive overhaul compared to previous versions. Expect a redesigned user interface with new icons, animations and improved multitasking capabilities, tailored to foldable devices.
A vertical app drawer and other UI tweaks could make the experience on the Z Fold 7 fresher; improving user productivity with a larger screen.
