The rumors about a new StarCraft shooter continue to gain momentum. Is Blizzard Entertainment hiring on a larger scale?
A few weeks ago, rumors began to spread that Blizzard Entertainment might try another shooter in the StarCraft franchise, after it hadn’t really worked out in the past. These speculations are now receiving new fuel.
The cult developer is now looking for new employees and, in the course of these job advertisements, does not specifically mention the StarCraft series, but speaks of an open-world shooter that the future employees should work on. For such a game, they are looking for an associate design director, principal designer and senior designer, among others, who will all work on the as yet unannounced title.
There is therefore a lot of speculation online that this could be the next attempt at a StarCraft shooter. The renowned video game journalist Jason Schreier recently suggested further work on such a project in his book about the history of Blizzard Entertainment.
If Schreier is right again with his usually excellent information, then the new shooter project will be overseen by former Ubisoft developer Dan Hay; He had previously gained a lot of shooter experience with his work on the Far Cry franchise and moved to Blizzard Entertainment in 2021.
Apparently a larger team could now be built there that will work on a new StarCraft shooter – or at least an open-world shooter. Will the efforts be fruitful this time? The third-person shooter StarCraft: Ghost was discontinued many years ago after a long development period. Will things go better this time?
