Two years after releasing the Lego Tallneck, Sony has announced its second Horizon Zero Dawn Crossover set with the Toy Brick Company and just in time for the release of the abridged, Lego Horizon Adventures Adjustment of the open-world role-playing game. The set is actually affordable too.
The not-so-elegantly named “Aloy & Varl vs. Shell-Walker & Sawtooth” set features two of the series’ main protagonists and two of its more well-known medium-sized prehistoric robot enemies. It includes 768 pieces and costs just $45. The only bad news is that it won’t arrive in time for the holiday. While orders begin today, the set will not ship until March 1, 2025.
That might sound like a lot of parts for such a compact set, but the devil is in the details. As explained in advance of the release of Lego Horizon Adventures, everything that appears in the game had to first be made with real Lego in the real world. To make the robots as interactive and flexible as possible, they have many small parts and multiple joints that make them almost look like action figures.
“The Shell Walker features posable legs and arms, opening claws, and a removable cargo pod and energy shield, while the fully articulated Sawtooth features opening jaws, a swiveling torso, and a posable neck, head, and legs.” horizon Franchise producer Tim Symons wrote on the PlayStation Blog on Monday.
It seems likely that Sony and Lego are planning several more horizon-Themed sets in the near future. There are many other large robots that they can adapt to, including the giant Stormbird. It would also be nice to see the Carja town of Meridian adapted into Lego, although the company doesn’t seem to make as many building-focused licensed sets these days.
In addition to Lego Horizon Adventures The original will be released this fall on PlayStation 5 and Switch Horizon Zero Dawn was recently remastered for PS5, while its sequel, Forbidden Westcame to PC at the beginning of the year. Sony seems to be fully committed to the franchise, with a possible multiplayer spin-off According to rumors, it will arrive as early as 2025. I’m sure a Lego sequel will also be in the works if the first one sells well enough.
