There are some iOS updates you can wait for, and some you absolutely need to get right away. This is one of the latter.
There’s not much in the iOS 18.1.1 and iPadOS 18.1.1 update other than a few critical security vulnerabilities. But these are significant updates to the JavaScript Core framework and WebKit that have already been actively exploited (on Intel-based Macs), according to Apple. The JavaScript vulnerability allows malicious web content to potentially execute arbitrary code, which is very bad. The WebKit flaw opens it up to cross-site scripting attacks.
Apple’s security page says it is aware of both being used on Intel-based Macs, although that doesn’t mean they are used. only
How to update to iOS 18.1.1 or iPadOS 18.1.1
To update your device, follow these steps while connected to Wi-Fi:
- Open settings
- Faucet General
- Faucet Software update
- Faucet Update now and follow the on-screen instructions.
